Alrite i have been working on my infinity for about 1 month now and every time i fix one problem 10 more appear. At first my ps2 wouldn't read any dvds original or backups and every time i put a disk in the ps2 would freeze and wouldn't the game. I managed to fix that by replacing the 3v3 and ground connections but then the ps2 would barely ever load to the browser screen and only original games would work. I fixed that problem and now my ps2 boots up to the normal browser screen everytime but it freezes once it enters the browser screen. I can't use my controller, eject the tray or even put it on standby. Ontop of that, the 5 balls of light that usually spin around at the browser screen fuse together into one big ball of light. I took the chip out and the same problem is still occuring. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Thanks.

to get the 5 balls back all you need to do is reset the clock time on the ps2

I can't reset the clock because the controller isn't detected. It wont let me configure anything. I cant even eject anything.

Is it possible that there is extra solder on a certain connection causing the ps2 to act this way? I know that there is left over solder on the 3v3 point and also point N. I doubt that there is any bridges. Also i had my matrix infinity chip grounded along the copper border around the motherboard. Also the ground point indicated on the matrix infinity diagrams is damaged(most of the solder was pulled off when i was removing the wire). Would that cause any problems?

the ground point don't appear to be attached to anything else so wouldn't think it would cause problems, you could try using some desoldering braid to clean up the other points and see if that helps

Yeah i guess that what i will do. Is there any chance that i fried something on the motherboard i don't think so because it still boots up normally and everything but i just want to check and make sure.

there's allways a chance that you could have fried somthing on the board or lifted a component, but let's hope not

Yeah i sure hope that everything is alrite. The pd2 looks alrite other than the damaged ground point and excess solder on certain connections.

About the desolder braid i am using it but it doesn't really seem to be doing anything. What i do is lay the strip of desolder braid over the solder and then put my iron over the braid. The solder doesn't really seem to be removed but instead moved around. Am i doing this properly?

from what you say you appear to be doing it correctly you simply place the desoldering braid over the solder you want to remove and use the iron to heat it, the solder should melt and be soaked up by the braid

If you need to adjust the clock, but the controller is not being detected, could it be possible the controller ribbon cable is damaged or not fully connected?

I thought that might be a possibility so i checled all the cables and they were all in fine condition and pulled in properly. Its not only the controller that is detected but the ps2 wont load any game even though i can hear it spinning and later wont let me eject it, its as though the entire ps2 freezes.

No, the ps2 didn't let me eject before either. It would let me put the game in but once it starts spinning everything stalls. I also can't reset it when this happens so i power it off from the back and then turn it back on so that i can eject the game.

ok thought the eject function wasn't working at all and if that was the case it sounded simular to the v9 i've been given to try and fix which has a la chip problem

The only thing that is keeping me going with this project is the feeling that I will have once the chip and everything else is working smoothly. I cant even describe how much i want this chip to work.

Anyways i cleaned off all the extra solder and also ajusted the clock. The controller is now detected and reads all my games. All thats left for me to do now is just reinstall my chip and i should be good to go.
