I really need help! I have a ps2 version SCPH 50001N (I bleieve its v10 or 11) came with network adapter and I recently tried installing a basic solid black colored flip top with swap magic ver 3.3 I think from customps2.com I had trouble unscrewing the 2 tiny screws on the cd tray so i simply pulled the tray out. Then I yanked the screws out after the tray was gone because i dont think i need to rescrew them. I then put the flip top on with the original ps2's white disc installed in the flip top's.

I noticed that the flip top didnt open completely when pressing the button. It gets stuck everytime and I have to open it all the way manually. I then put the ver. 3.3 dvd in powered it on with the reset button. Then, the ps2 makes this horrible, loud spinning noise throughout the loading process. When prompted, I then put in a backup of raw vs. smackdown (loud spinning noise all the way), it loads then just gets stuck at the same place with the disc spinning nuts. I then tried putting in an original game with the flip top and it makes the same horrible noise and gets stuck at the same loading screen. I then tried leaving the flip top open, and putting the white disc directly on the disc, it works but then the horrible noise picks up when both the backup and an original gets to the typical screen and locks up while the crackling spin noise continues.

I got frustrated and scared so I put back the orignal cd tray (no tiny screws this time) and hoped that it didnt damage the unit. I then put an original game back in and it works perfectly, no more noise. Did I buy a bad flip top? I already ordered a new one at ps2fliptop.net since it has a pre-install white disc, a better spring hold (i hope) and pre-install memory doors. I hope this would fix things. I want to know: 1. Did I damage my ps2 at all, it seems to work fine now. and 2. What happened to the flip top? What was that horrible loud spinning noise) Did I buy a bad one? The magic swap discs seem to work fine however. I am anxious and hope the new flip top will work fine. Please I need any advice and help available

The spinning noise was likely caused because the white disk wasn't lowered enough, just loosen the 2 screws on the white disk until it no longer makes any noise.

I just think I bought a faulty flip top since the top doesnt spring up completely. I know its bad because i tried putting the white disc directly on top for the swap magic, then i put it back on the flip top and put a heavy object on the top, the burned backup actually worked. It clicked just a tiny bit at the same loading screen but then magically worked. What I want to know, is did my ps2 get damaged at all by the weird spinning, clicking noises? I reinstalled the top cd tray without the 2 tiny screws and it seems to work perfectly fine. Im going to get a new one from ps2fliptop soon.

Does anyone know if my ps2 is okay considering the bad noises from the stupid flip top and the fact that my top cd tray doesnt have the two tiny screws on front?

if your ps2 is working fine then it's unlikly that you damaged it

i installed the black fliptop from customps2.com on a friends ps2 and had pretty much the same problem, 2 things i recommend. the white thing that spins on top of the disc (that comes up with the fliptop) is garbage, take the one out of your old ps2 top and put it in there. second make sure you didn't tighten the screws too tight on the bottom of the ps2. i had the same problem with smackdown vs. raw and as soon as i loosened the screws its been working awesome since.

I think I'll just wait for the flip top from ps2fliptop.net, has everyone had success with their fliptops from this merchant? And with that do I have to loosen the screws like ciderv2 said? I'm just mad I wasted money on a bad flip top but hope the new one works. If it doesnt, which I doubt, I will try to loosen the screws with this one. Please offer your advice.
