Thank you very much for your excellent guide. I followed each step and aside from it taking a bit longer than what was mentioned, It seemed to be working fine.

After 12 hours of compiling, I got back two AVI files... Is this correct?

Firstpass and Secondpass?
When I try to read these files with The Player all I get is a green screen... great audio, but just a green screen. Also windows media player will not read these files... gives an error that says something about not being able to allocate memory because none has been defined.

Any thoughts about what part I messed up?

I thought it might be interlaced, but it shows progressive when previewed in DVD2AVI...

Also both of my first pass and 2nd pass files are very small... only 171mb... and I had followed the instructions expecting a 1200mb file...

Any help will be appreciated.

You definately screwed something up now -- my guess is this:

when guide said "saving the 2nd pass", you did NOT change the DivX settings to say "2-pass, second pass" but instead kept it "2-pass, first pass" and saved that as second pass. What this means? You now have 2 pieces of first pass files with two names. And first pass file is useless, it's just an information file for the encoder "how the second pass should encode this video in order to get the best possible results within the bitrate limits you set".

Yeah, the audio is not being encoded with DivX, so the actual audio track is already OK.
