Ps2 Backups Load Slowly

I have swap magic/fliptop combo and an hd advance. I burn using dvd decrypter onto 1-8x sony dvd-r disks,but only burn at 1x. I know how to patch to play online and have used it for many games.
I have a problem though because the disks i burn load very slowly if at all, but when i copy them to my hdd the game loads fine. Im not sure why the games load so slow and freeze, but i think it is either my dvd burner, dvd-r disks, or my computer running to many programs in the background that make the burning process freeze occasionally. Any help would be greatly appreciated or if you want other info just make a post.

a lot of ps2's don't like 8x media (even though your burned at 1x).

well, it would be a good idea to not have ANY programs running at all when your burning anything. also, mabye your disks get scrated. try cleaning them.
