This is my fist entry, forgive if I missed an aswer already posted or if I used the wromg forum. Just point me to the right place and I will follow thw rules.
Config: PC=2.4GHz, RAM=256MB, HDD1=160GB, HDD2=120GB.
HHD2 is 1 partition dedicated to video capture.
Video= nVidia FX5700 (PNY), Audio=Stanta Cruz (Turtle Beach)
Sotware: Ulead VideoStudio 7 SE and MovideFactory 2.5 which came with the PNY card.
Goal: convert old black & white Secam/Pal VCR to DVD. Tapes are 95 to 115 minutes each. They look still very good when watched in the preview screen.
Tried: different MPEG-2 capture settings offered by software with mixed results (pixelization and loss of quality) to get DVD files within the 4.37GB limit.
Situation: A direct capture to MPEG-2 requires a re-capture for each attempt. After reading the messages on this forum I concluded that I should try to capture in AVI and then experiment different MPEG-2 converters.
Problem: VideoStudio in AVI mode offers several codecs but all seem to generate 3GB for 3 minutes (seems uncompressed to me!). I tried to install and select HuffyUV but got same result. 120GB of HDD won't be enough.
Help needed: My problem is surely very basic to the experienced people you are but Iam stuck!
- Why could I not achieve my goal with standard settings of VideoStudio?
- Why are the codecs not working, even those offered upon installation?
- What I am doing wrong?
- Where can I find the right steps?
I have already invested a lot of money in this, I would like not to have to buy another expensive solution.
Thanks a lot if you can 'enlighten' me.
