since dvd-r's and dvd+r's only wotk with a kind of version ps2 then how come when you buy ps2 games they work on every version. do they use a speacial format.

All PS2 games use cd-rom or dvd-rom

Sony, along with other multi-million dollar companies, have a "special" machine/software that allows them to make DVDs that are compatible with ANY machine that plays that media. These machines and software are well above mine, or any other "normal" persons income i'm sure.

AFAIK the original CD/DVD's are not burnt, they are pressed, thats how they work on every version..
