Losing digital signal from DVD player to Digital Receiver

DVD player = JVC XV-N44SL
Digital Receiver = Panasonic SAXR50S

So I'm listening to either a DVD-audio disc, or a normal PCM audio disc (a CD) and the same problem is occuring. The signal disappears for a split second and then comes back. This happens randomly.

I'm connected via a coaxle cable from Digital Out of DVD-player to the Digital IN of the receiver.

When this loss of signal occurs, the dvd player doesn't change in appearance or anything (ex, it doesn't shut off and on), and it keeps on playing normal (the track time keeps moving normally).

The receiver though appears to loose the digital signal cuz it looks like its processing what the signal is (whether its 44.1 or 48, dolby or pcm). I loose the info on the panel that says whether its 44.1 or 48, etc.

Now, at first i thought it was the receiver because i just got it. So i exchanged it for the same model thinking that it might have been defective. But the same thing happens still. Is it the DVD player?

Can anyone help or offer suggestions? The DVD player is just a year old and has been treated well.
