In the guide, under the headline Cropping, there´s something about the axels having to be multiples of 16. What does this mean? I´ve done one dvd-rip and i think there was some of the film missing on the sides, this could of course just be my mistake but it would be good to know.
Can I use higher resoulution than 720x576? Will any resoulution do or does it have to be calculated by that X-axel/16=40, 40x9-method ?

It means that both axis, X and Y need to be multiplies of 16, like 32x16, 320x240, etc.. So 322x245 wont do, not even 322x240.

And yeah, you can have bigger video size as well, but it requires helluva lot of CPU power to run 1280x(something) DivX movies, more than what I have.

And we're using 640x(something) purely to get perfect PC playback using PC resolution.

My grade in mathematics was found in a ditch, so I how do I calculate out which resoulutions are multiples of 16?

With that high resoulution and a slow PC, will the platback look like a slideshow(in a extreme case) or will the playback be blocky?

If divx requires so much CPU power why does ripped VOB-files play nicely, they are MPEG2 or something like that, right?

Yeah, DVD is in MPEG-2, DivX is MPEG-4. And yeah, you will lose frames in slower computers and playback will be jerky.

Simply use calculator. You have a number, divide it by 16 and if it's integer (you know, exact number like 2.0000000000000, etc) it's multiple of 16.
