Hello all. Just wondering if anyone has used the 8.5BG DVD's yet? I can't seem to find them anywhere to buy. I have a micro advantage 8.5 16X DVD burner and am hoping to make use of the 8.5 feature. If anyone has used them, how are your results and where are you getting the DVD's? I have finally got DVD burning down. Have to say, I LOVE IT! I even get them to play in my PS2, which I bought in 2001. And from what I understand, if they play in that old thing, they should play in just about anything. Later all.

The blanks are still very expensive ... here in Toronto they're about $10 CDN ... so until they drop to $1 or so, why would I bother when I can get two good quality 4.7 standard blanks for $1?

What is more interesting to me, is just how compatible the burn will be with DVD players. Will current players read them at all? Heck there are compatability issues with standard burns. I suspect these dual layer blanks will be super-fussy and create all kinds of viewing issues. Hope I'm wrong.

They'll get everything settled just in time for HD-DVD issues to start complicating things ... :-)

I have burned a couple of movies in DL (Harry Potter POA, and Lord of the rings the 2 towers) and they came out perfect!! I was very please. i used DVD Shrink to make the first one and DVD Decrypter to make the next one. I just wanted to see which one did a better job.. I couldnt tell a difference Decrypter may have been a little faster.

Here are a couple of places to get the DL disk's.

Rima

Super Media Store

Shop 4 Tech

Total Media Inc.

I will stick with DVD5 for now though until the price drops on DL. acouple of those places have the DL for $6..

Good luck and happy burning :-)

So they played ok? Which players have you tested them on? Newer players? Older players?

Thanks.
