I am ripping for the first time. i had this error message "pull down cannot be performed, check frame rate". I proceeded and it's going to take 12 hours to encode. I am using a AMD 700 mega hertz machine with 128 meg of mem and have 10 gig avail on hard drive. advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Elwood

What did you do? What guide did you use and what format you aimed to?

And good quality 2 (or more) -pass encoding takes anything between 6 hours to 50 hours even with 1GHz CPUs.

Guide? format? i downloaded a set of instructions [not very good] and am trying to encode to MPEG 1. I guess the encoding part of this whole thing is really the sticky part isn't it?
any suggestions for a better set of instructions? And what the hell is" 2 passes"? i assume when this thing is finally encoded I will not be ready to burn?
Thanks,
Elwood

Okay, I see your problem :-) Start with this guide, it should give you step-by-step instructions:

ars: It's possible, although not very recommended and it requires a little bit of tweaking (like adjusting the audio to be longer (NTSC is 29.97fps, PAL is 25fps) or shorter (NTSCFilm is 23.97fps) to match with the new framerate of the video, etc.
