It's not the software. It's either a hardware problem or user error.

I would try DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter first ... why? Because they are free. Check out the guides and browse a few threads. there are some great guides out there.

Batista - there are certainly numerous methods on how to complete the task you're attempting, so here's mine and I have had 100% success with it.

I'm assuming you're making a backup of a dvd you have and not dvd files on your computer. The latter will work but I'll save that for another time.
1. use CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD get them here --> http://www.slysoft.com/en/clonedvd.html -- http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html
AnyDVD will run in the backround, you won't even realize it. It descrambles the DVD-Movies so that all applications view the DVD as region free, meaning you can now copy it with no complications.
2. insert your movie into your dvd drive
3. start CloneDVD2 click Clone DVD
4. insert file destination location (harddrive)
5. choose file format to create as an .iso
6. then follow steps choosing, a name for your file (always use capitol letters, some stand alone dvd players will have trouble reading the disc otherwise) subtitles, uncheck preview chapters if you wish and then just click go!
7. When your done you will have a nice tidy little .iso file ready for burning onto dvd media.
8. I use Alcohol 120%, get it here --> http://www.alcohol-soft.com/
9. start Alcohol and click image burning wizard
10. browse to where you created the .iso file
11. double click and then
12. choose your burner, the settings should be fine in default, items such as burning speed ect.
13. then click start and it usually takes about 13 to 14 min. depending on your burner, cpu ect.
15. you will get cofirmation that it was a successful burn, and now take out the disc walk over to your dvd player, pop your new movie in, grab some popcorn, plop yourself on the couch and enjoy :)

Hope this helps.
Cheers

It sounds like Alcohol hasn't set it self up right and hasn't recognized your drives. Try this, with alcohol open hit "Shift+F5" or click the "device" tab then click rescan all cd/dvd drives. That should allow Alcohol to recognize your drives and that just may be your problem.
Good luck.

Hi and welcome to aD Batista69,

Though AnyDVD is probably the best (driver type) ripper out there and CloneDVD2 and Alcohol 120% are good programs they all cost $$$$.

if you don't mind, what I'd like to offer you are 2 programs which are far superior in ripping than AnyDVD and a program which, IMO, produces a higher quality backup than CloneDVD2 when used with the quality settings available AND are easier to use and they are both FREE, as in, no dinero :)

They are DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. Here's a guide and the download links (about 1/2 of the way down the page) and with an average PC you'll have an decent backup in about 45 minutes OR a very good backup using the quality settings in a bit over 2 hours -
