Having trouble backing up new ps2 games for an older ps2

Hi Guys, I have a V1, 2, or 3 PS2 (not sure exactly which, just that it has 10 screws on the bottom), and have a Detonator 3002 Mod chip in it. It uses the AR2 V2 boot disk & memory card. I use a Pioneer 107 DVD Burner and DVD Decrypter for my backups and generally use Shintaro media. I haven't had any trouble with back-ups in the past, but just recently, I'm having trouble with the newer games, namely Burnout 3, and Killzone. The newest successful back-up I have done was Psi-Ops. My thoughts are that both my Mod Chip and PS2 console are getting a bit old, and the newer games are harder to backup? Does anyone out there have any ideas?
