Internet connection for DVD XCOPY

What can anyone tell me about the internet connection requirement for DVD XCopy/DVD XCopy Platinum? What does it do? Can it be circumvented? Is it telling someone somewhere what I am copying? Do I need to be concerned about it? Thanks!

XCopy like most programs that access the internet is looking for updates.

Backups with XCopy does contain your registration info. XCopy puts a file in the backup.
