didnt know where this goes so i put it here. my friend just bought a webcam it is an EZvideo cam. we tried installing it and when it is installing the drivers we get an error that says the file dashow508.ax is locked but we selected to ignore and it then finishes installing we go and use it on msn messenger but it doesnt work, but when we go to stream it using the program amcap it works so i dont know what the hell is going on so can anybody please help us out?

Hey

Since its working though the WebCam program.. have you set it up in MSN

Open up MSN then go into the Tools Menu then Audio/Tuning Wizard.

Now Click Next -> then select your Webcam from the list then click Next -> you should now see yourself, or watever the cam is pointed at, click Next until you come to the end then click Finish.

Now it should work.

i need some help too actually .. lol
so yeah i bought a webcam last night .. i dunno what kind . . it has a built in microphone .. wc15? that's what it's called i guess .. anyway i can take pictures and videos with it, but i can't use it on msn .. soooo can someone tell me how to? when i go to tools i don't have audio/video wizard i only have audio..

Hey

Are you using MSN Messenger or Windows Messenger.

Windows Messenger you dont have a video option.

Head on over to http://messenger.msn.com and download the latest version of MSN Messegner which is 6.2 at present.

Hey

So you dont have the options like in the picture below ?

If you dont, well then im not sure. All MSN Messenger 6.2's on PC i have all have it weather a webcam is installed or not.

As far as i know Windows 98/ME/2000 still have the Video/Audio.

Or are you running a Mac ?
If you are, then i have no idea.

You seem to know a lot about this so I figure I might ask you if you know why my friends msnis not coming up as the 6.2 version on my screen. She has downloaded it and just got a web cam, she has both picture screens on her message box but I only have my picture box in my message screen. It shows her that she is logged into 6.2 but I tried to start web cam with her and says she is unable to. Maybe you can help?

SO my video issue with msn messenger is that I see my image in the vid window when I do the audio/video tuning wizard, but when I go to start the webcam it says no camera detected. Any clue?
