my ps2 say disc error and i really don't know what i need to do. I have cleaned the laser same error do i need to buy another dvd-rom for it or do i need to buy a new system if a dvd-rom how will i know if it will work for the ps2?

Well first check to see if the ribbon cable connecting the mobo is securely inserted into the laser. If it is connected right, adjust the lasers height, it might just be going bad and needs to be closer to the disc to read. If all else fails, it's most likely just the laser. you can buy one from a number of sites, here's a good one to try, it also has a forum that might answer alot of your questions and may shed some light onto your situation
