Which playback software + getting rid of "cinema" view

I would like some advice for which software to use to playback most of the available downloaded movies like avi ogg or whatever there is out there. Well means it works like WMP AND more ? And takes up less resources.

Also most of the movies you dowload has this cinema view, any way to get rid of that and play like normal tv view ?
