I've read that you can't use the PS2 HD with the new thin version of the PS2. I just got a PS2 as a present and, unfortunately, it's the thin model. I like the new design, but I was really hoping to be able to use a HD for memory card purposes.

I have a lot of computer parts around as I work on computers as well. Is there a way to use an IDE drive with this new playstation? Maybe an USB HD? or flash/jump drive? Anyone have any suggestions? I just want to be able to save game data to a hd rather than a memory card. I hate having limited storage space. I don't want to copy games or play burned games or anything of the sort. I just want to save games to a HD. I don't mind having to mod the ps2 a little, but would like to avoid it if possible.

Anyone? Thanks in advance.

Sony has no plans to impliment HDD support for the PSTwo. Somewhere down the road somebody might figure out a way to connect a drive VIA the USB ports but you can only use a memory card to directly save games. There are utilities to transfer memory card data to the HDD but you still must have a memory card to save in-game.

ok, this is a little secret sony doesnt want u to no. the new slimline "PS2" is really a pre-release of the PS3! My father worked on the project and learned this about 3 months before they released it. it DOES have USB 2.0, but they dont have the right drivers. it has a mod chip for Japanese DVDs in it already. it also has a 50GB hard drive. That too, is not enabled. (it should, i havent checked, its about the size of a laptop hard drive) to see a full list of its AMAZING capabilaties, you need to get into the BIOS of it. please notify me when someone figures this out.

Yeah....ok so if they did have all of those options on the new PSTwo, why wouldn't they say anything about it. I would think that would be a killer way to get more sales on the PSTwo. But i highly doubt that any of that is real...I'm not calling you a liar, but don't state things when you have no proof to back up the claims you bring out.
