BIT TORNADO TROUBLE

I been using Bit Tornado for a couple weeks now without any problems, today i started experiecing a few problems, a while after i start or resume a DL, the rest of my internet applications stop working, i.e browsers, messenger e.t.c. I then have to stop\pause my DL reset my router and all works fine until i start the DL again. I have a 2mb connection, using Windows XP Pro SP2, the only recent change to my computer was Norton Premier Systemworks 2005 but dont see how this could be the problem.
As for opening ports, I tried that b4 and my firewall went haywire I had like 800 Blocked attempts in a few hours (Zone Alarm Pro).
Anyone else have this problem as it is becoming annoying.
