HD Loader Questions

have been looking into this and have a few questions about it.
1) does the ps2 allow any HDD to be installed (any 5.25" one anyways) in a v9ps2.
2) how do you get the game onto the hdd? do u have to connect it to a pc, then transfer the files? or do u burn the files to a cd and then transfer them once the cd is inside the ps2?
3) my v9 won't allow me to play cdr games, only dvdr. so will the hdloader way allow me to play the smaller cdr games?
