Dont use all caps. And you can only play games on your hard drive online if you use an official Sony hd. Otherwise, no. Ive read you can patch some games (namely Killzone) to work online with hdloader but never tried it myself.

Can you go online with HD loader? Not with the games written on the hard drive, just with HD loader on the Hard drive. All I want the hard drive for is to download Socom 2 maps- can I? I just need the hd loader to format the drive. One more thing- can you download HD loader from the internet?

Thanks a lot! I have seen no threads with my question, my apologies if this question has already been answered.

O.K. The only current way to go online with a non-sony hard drive is with a mod chip- you need to copy the original hard drive format disk, and use it on the non-original HD.

so far I've been able to get socom and tonyhawk4 working online off HDD, they dont have DNAs. so it that works it means the network card hasn't been disabled, so why does it get disabled when I play killzone off the HDD?

Heres the link to get Killzone working. You have to sign up though. And you also need to use programs like winhiip to send the games to the hard drive if you didnt know.

Vicx this is really big news to me. I also have a maxtor hard drive with the official sony network adaptor and my hd is 120gb. I was always afriad to try and get online with my hard drive cause i was afraid i would get "banned" on the internet for good. But your telling me you can play the games online off the hard drive!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!

only non-dnas games have worked so far like tony4 socom1. I'm in NZ using a PAL ps2, I think u might get banned if u try in america, thats what I heard, dunno if its true. since those games work online it's possible to play off hdd, so why does it get disabled on some games like killzone?

so you think that the NTSC or PAL versions have diffenences when it comes to playing games online? What games have non-dnas?
Is there a list out there?

I don't know, my tony4 and socom are NTSC but my ps2 is PAL, so I can only play against americans.

theres a list of non-dnas games here

I live in America. Do you think that I have PAL ps2 or NTSC? Does it matter when i go online? Or does the game PAL NTSC matter when going onlinE?

So because my PS2 is a NTSC and not a PAL i can't go online with hd loader? I thought that it just mattered with the game. If the game has dnas or not.

it only matters on the game, NTSC and PAL can both play online off the hdd, it just depends on the game. I've only tried socom1 and tonyhawk4
