Swap magic and slide card will work, but it sounds like you're not using the swap magic disk.

Um, you are using a no solder mod, slide tool or flip top right? To swap swap magic disc for your backup...
Cuz there is no reason why it shouldn't work, other than dvd+r as versions below 7 have trouble with them, some readem some don't. But you tried -r to so.
Also it maybe the game, it may need a fix.

so when you put your swap magic disk "dvd" it asks for you to "insert disk" and then you manually open it (using slide card) then manually close it with backed up game on the tray and then press "X" and you should see a blue line on the left side or somethin like that... hope that helps

from what i think, if you are loading magic swap 3.3, i think it's the CD version. however, if you are using the DVD version, i don't know why it says that

i didnt see a blue line on the side, matter or fact i dont see any blue lines all it does is stay on the main screen for the swap magic then when i press x, the ps2 is trying to read it but in about 5 seconds, at the bottom of the screen it says "not a valid ps2 disc" at the sawp magic main screen.
