Possible solution of why so many errors while burning

This is very premature for me to say this, but I just burned 3 in a row no errors and that is VERY odd for me. I have a hard time accepting the idea that all my errors are related to the disks themselves.
I had DVD Decrypter loaded. I went into the Task Manager, the processes. I set the priority to DVD Decypter to high.
I have a 4X burner TDK internal. I set burn speed to 2.4X also.
3 in a row.

It means I burned 3 in a row with no errors. I've never been that lucky.

reasons for errors when burning:
1. bad media
2. too many applications running at the same time; memory usage, automatic system processes running like anti-virus updates, scheduled system tool starts, wallpaper, etc.
3. incorrect or bad firmware/ drive flashing
4. faulty cables
5. corrupted/cracked software/warez
6. bad luck- shit just happens sometimes

Hey All,
I have some experience here and find that the media is rather a remote cause for burning failures. (it does however have a major impact on playback when the player, (stand-alone, is in question.) I had a n older RCA that would not play DVD-R without MAJOR glitches. But back to the burning thread. I use Shrink and Decrypter exclusivly, even though I have Nero 6.0. I have an Hitachi GD 7500 internal DVD that I usually let Shrink read from, and a Sony DRX 700 UL external burner I use for Burning with Decrypter.
Generally this set-up is successful, but when I have a problem say, with Shrink analizing or encoding the disc, I can usually switch it (The Master DVD), to the Sony Burner and restart the task and it generally goes through successfully. The Sony can read the disc better than the older Hitachi. When that doesn't work then I try 'reading' with Decrypter to put the data on the hard drive first then shrink that, and then decrypt. If that doesn't work then I go for Re-authoring, and try to find where the problem is. If I don't want to spend too much time on this I will just re-author the main movie and leave the extras and other menus off. No biggie, plus there is no compression.

By the way, I have backed up probably 300 movies with maybe 4-5 coasters. Not a bad ratio eh?

Drugrep, you are right that it's not just the media which takes the brunt of the blame for bad burns. I always disable McAfee Virus Scan and every other unnecessary process before burning. McAfee (the worst offender on the planet) and other processes are automated and will run processes in the middle of your burning because they think multi-tasking really works in Windows. Multi-tasking is alot of b.s., as you will notice your apps may freeze for a split second occasionally. Setting the program priority to high is a very good idea. I did that to my Windows Media Player when it would freeze for a split second while playing video and it worked. Turns out it was McAfee AntiSpyware that caused the glitches because it would run every 2 minutes. Very bad for burning, buffer or no buffer. Burning too fast is also another problem, but I suspect background processes is to blame for more bad burns than bad media. (Glitches and freezing only. If the disc is not readable, then I'd suspect the media.)
