Hello,
I am using DVD Shrink to backup the movie. When playing the backup it plays fine until the last 7 or 8 minutes. At that point the movie starts to freeze and it takes a long time to view the next scenes. I really can't watch the movie once it starts freezing.
Any suggestions on what to do to correct this. I am using a sony 16x dvd dual layer burner.

set your target size to 4300MB under "preferences" is a good place to start

I am using 2 types: TDK DVD-R & GQ DVD-R. I have also used the + DVD's. I thought it might be the new DVD set-top recorder I just bought. It is a Sony, but I tried the movie in my DVD-rom drive and it froze there also. But it froze at a different point in the movie. I just don't know where to start.

Perhaps try ripping the movie to your harddrive with DVD Decrypter and then using DVD Shrink in re-authoring mode to just copy the main title.
Then use Nero or CopyToDVD to burn the movie, or whatever software you use.
This has worked for me, so good luck.
