Sony and TDK have been good for me, and Verbatim has been known to be reliable as far as I'm concerned. Memorex is a mixed bag from what I've seen but the few Memorex discs that I have are of decent quality. I also really like E-Gear DVD media, available at Target locations.

From a personal standpoint Taiyo Yuden is the premium
brand followed very closely by Verbatim (MCC code) and
Ritek (Ridata Richojpn code). I have said many times on here that most
users and knowledgeable people say that TY is number 1
but your mileage may vary. I only say this as I have
burnt several thousand DVD's and this is how I view them.

I'd second vatsim5's recommendations, once you've tried Taiyo Yuden there ain't no going back.

Jeff11103: I agree with Higgsbsun but to offer an alternative, lately the fuji media that say made in Japan have been TY. Next time you go to a store, look for Fuji and search the label to see where it was made. Usually the made in Japan one's will cost alot more but it's worth it. If you can't determine from the label where it's from then pass cuz it's most likely from taiwan and not TY.

The most reliable media I use is Sony, TDK and Verbantum.
I have tried some cheaper media but with mixed results, so I find paying that little bit more for the better quality is well worth it.

Digitalfaq hasn't been updated in a while. Couldn't tell me of my -4x sony "0401" and +1-8x sony "d11". These are doing very well.no coasters. I still want to stick to my branded verbatim "+8x" code mccoo3.Most of my ricohjpnro1 are doing very well.

What was the MID on these? The cheapest I've seen real TY's in the UK is 50UKP (96 US dollars), for 100, Fujis can be a lot cheaper than this. Recently Fuji have had a reputation for sourcing media from just about anyone under the sun, so will a "made in Japan" label guarantee TY?

Higgsbsun: YUDEN000-02 ....Anyway, i suppose nothing is guaranteed so it's always better to buy straight up Taiyo.

Thanks, if I see any "made in Japan" Fuji +R's going cheap, I may just take a gamble.
