I assume you want to create MPEG-2 files out of your VOB files? MPEG-2 files in DVD format are called miniDVD's and here's a brief guide for you how to do this:

ok dude the last guy just gave you shit advice! What you want to do is convert the VOB file to mpeg1 files not mpeg2 (unless you wnt to give up about 5 to 9 GB of disk space per movie) If you convert thenm to mpeg1 this also alows you to create a VCD using Easy Cd Creator, or you can split a movie to 2 700mb disks and save you hard drive. You can save them as mpeg1 or vcd.
VCD can be played on 90% of the dvd players out there!

this come with ALL hte instuction you need (dont give up)

better link 10 Stars www.edonkey2000.com !!!! just get the movie already done, as an mpeg but please share what you have!

At least I have patience of reading the actual question before replying. Question was

" I need to convert a .vob chapter into a mpeg the fastest way. with the same qality as a dvd player would play them "

...and as far as I know neither VCD nor SVCD doesn't produce DVD quality, nor does DivX.

Filtermon: LOL. VJ asked for a solution that would give him "the same qality as a dvd player". VCD is nowhere near DVD quality. The only way to retain DVD quality is keeping the original VOBs and building a MiniDVD.

Maybe you should actually read what's being asked before boasting about your superior 3l337 DVD ripping skills. <g>

Hi. I have a problem....*gasp*
I have ripped the vob files and other stuff using SmartRipper and followed the directions shown here: http://www.doom9.org/mpg/tmpg-main.htm
But when i get to the TMPGEnc bit and try to open the file as video (evolution.d2v) TMPGEnc says after a little bit that 'Flie C:\Evolution\evolution.d2v cannot open, or unsupported' plz tell me wtf is wrong with TMPGEnc b/c i know DVD2AVI file types are supported.

You are using AVI.cfm" class="forum_link" target="_blank">DVD2AVI 1.82 which is not compatible or you haven't installed the VFAPI plugin for TMPGEnc (you can d/l it from TMPGEnc's homepage).
