Hello everyone, this is my first post.
i just recently started getting a similar problem. the rip and the burn seems to going fine, but just as it reaches 100% for the burn, i get an "burn process failed"
6:11:50 PM #25 CDR -1135 File Writer.cpp, Line 335
Write error
6:11:50 PM #26 Text 0 File ThreadedTransfer.cpp, Line 227
all writers idle, stopping conversion
6:12:02 PM #27 Phase 38 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 232
Burn process failed at 4x (5,520 KB/s)

i've been using shrink for over a year now and tried using decrypter first and then shrink to burn. don't think it's a media prob (been using ridata branded ritek X4). first few chapters are fine but then gets really pixelated and eventually freezes.
any suggestions or comments welcomed.
not a newbie, but still learning...

Hi all, Im having problems burning with my Nero, DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink combo. It worked perfectly for 3 months, and I made over 50 copies flawlessly. However, recently I've been getting errors with Nero. After I rip and encode the DVDs with Decrypter and Shrink, Nero always craps out, giving me either an unspecified target error or internal target failure error with the message that the burn process failed at 2x (2,760 KB/s).
Im not sure what to do. I've removed and reinstalled Nero, Decrypter, and Shrink to no avail. I don't think its a problem with the media, because I had no problems with the Sonic DVD-R 4X before. I think its either a hardware problem, or a software conflict. I recently installed I-tunes and Daemon Tools, but I doubt they would cause problems. I continually use Ad-Aware and Norton Anti-Virus to check for spyware and viruses. Im running XP, and I have a Matshita DVD RAM UJ 820S Multi burner that I use with my Toshiba Labtop(3.2 GHz, 512 MB RAM). Any suggestions?

I had the same error message and fixed it in the XP registry. Try:
Regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
Windows
Now check the right panel. ErrorMode data should be 0x00000001 (1). If the last number is "0" change it to a 1 by double clicking on ErrorMode and changing the 0 in value data to 1. ShellErrorMode should also be a 1. Close Regedit, reboot and see if it works.

Hey mrmicrobe, thanks for your reply, I've been trying to find someone with expertise on this matter for a while. I tried what you said and changed ErrorMode data to 1. I left ShellErrorMode at 1 as well. However, when I simulated a burn, Nero crapped out at 97%. It seems like the simulation or the actual burning of Nero always craps out in the late 90 percentile. Lately though, the simulations always fail, which worries me. What exactly does your procedure do, and is there anything else I can try to fix it. I've gone through a lot of these errors, and they all seem to come down to an SCSI error. Here is a chunk of the Nero report where Nero failed after properly working.
