I've followed your instructions found at http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd2vcd_with_smart_dvd2avi_tmpgenc.cfm for ripping a DVD and converting to Mpeg, and have downloaded and used all the software and steps you recommend.

My problem is as follows. I am able to get a .wav file of the full movie (1:32) but I'm only getting about 2-4 seconds of the video in the final .mpg.

In the DVD2AVI, it shows the whole video in the Preview, and it took over an hour to code the project, but this appears to only be the .wav file.

TMPEnc results in a full 800 KB .wav file, but only an 80 B video.

What am I doing wrong?

P.S.

In the video type field on the DVD2AVI, it only ever seems to say "Film 99%", not "NTSC" or "PAL".

Does this have something to do with the problem? I have tried a few DVDs and get the same.
