after install the infinity into my v9 ps2, i saw the "playstation 2 infinity v1.2" logo for one time only. after the logo appear, then the screen goes blank and it start to make funny sound on the disc. music cd,dvd movie, and original work fine, but I no longer saw the "infinity" under playstation 2 logo anymore. i try to disable it by press start during start up..but the disable screen doesn't appear ..anyone know what might happend? ..thanks in advance.have a wonderful holiday season
Its almost always the bios points B,G,I,H that mess everything up. I know it was for me. Check to make sure that there are no bridges and that no wire has come off. Where have you soldered the B,H,I,G wires, was it the vias under the board or the chip legs on top of the board?
for some reason i can't see bigmac999 post..
bboy_flex: now i just notice, if i press and hold the reset button, then the ps2 would load original cds,and dvds. if i just press and release the reset buton to turn on the green light, then the screen just goes blank..any disc was in the tray at this point would spin and never stop. i install the B,H,I,G at the vias under the board..
another question ..do the wire has to go into the hole? or can it just lay on top?..cause i was confuse about those point on the bottom of the board ..thanks a lot for your time
At first i soldered the bios points to the vias but my ps2 did not really work properly, there was a poor connection. I then re-installed the chip and put the B,G,H,and I points on the chip legs (this is much easier). I suggest that you do the same because there is a good chance that the wire is not making a good connection. Just remember to use a magnifying glass, what i did was add a little bit of solder to the wire and then dip it in a little flux. Then i would line it up perfectly with the chip leg and gently touch the wire with the iron. It worked out great and was pretty easy to do.
thanks a lot bboy_flex .. the reason that i install on the vias because those chip leg look so close together, i afraid i might damage the neighbor one...i will try to reinstall those point tonight ..really appreaciated..
When installing my Infinity to my V9 I originally soldered to the VIA's, never again. I found it so difficult and damaged one of the circuit tracks, I thought my motherboard was proper f****d, but luckily I managed to salvage it with a bit of patching up. bboy is right, it is far easier to solder to the chip legs, so long as you check them with a magnifying glass as he points out. I also agree with his method of tinning the wires with solder. The only thing to look out for is overheating the leg, just use a low wattage soldering iron.
Going back to your problem (sure I posted here earlier but it didnt seem to work) I had the exact same problem. I found that one of the B,G,H,I points (cant remember which one) had come away due to vibration of trying to boot a bad disc. i just reattached it and it was perfect, i must not have had enough solder or something. But that was months ago now and i havent had a single problem since (touch wood).
