My computer screen is too dark. The buttons to increase/decrease brightness on monitor seem to have died. When i play movies this is very annoying. With some movies, i generally get .avi, you can adjust brightness in Windows Media Player. Others the player does not allow it. Does this have something to do with the file encoding? Is there an alternative video player where brightness can always be re-adjusted

Btw I have an onboard video card, cannot change advanced brightness settings in display.

Beg, borrow or steal a different monitor and see if it makes a difference.

If so, your current monitor is dead/dying.

Alternatively try your movies in a friends machine.

Maybe try PowerDVD that has brightness controls

hmm i like the stealing idea, but in the meantime there must be a video player that allows u to adjust brightness?

If your monitor is dying or dead any software brightness controls are not going to be of any help.

Although, some movies, AVI, seem to be able to be adjusted even in Windows Media Player. But not all.
