I've used several programs in an attempt to backup my DVD collection.

ALL the finalised burnt CD's to-date have, without fail, some glitch in them!!! ???

I have used mainly Nero (full version) to burn, but have also tried other burn programs with the same results. The files play back fine and without any glitches on my PC, but after burning onto a CD, some flaw, however minor crops up in EVERY ONE ... ???

Any pointers or suggestions guys???

A DVD->CD-copy is probably never perfect. A CD is so much smaller then a DVD so...

If you like watching DVDs on you´re PC, divX is the right thing for you. In this case the afterdawn-guides give you a decent soulution.
Haven´t tried the VCD-guide myself.

Well they seem to play fine up until the final back-up process. The mpg files play fine on my PC - but after the back-up - little glitches on the final CD product for some reason? Oh Well ... keep trying different back-up software maybe ????

Sounds kinda weird, since the burning process shouldn't do anything to the actual files. Only thing that comes to my mind is that for some reason, the MPEG-1 (I'm assuming you speak about VCD now? and that you're speaking the playback with your PC after burning the MPEG-1 to VCD?) codec you have on your computer somehow doesn't recognize VCD correctly. VCD is MPEG-1, but it has various "stuff" added to it in order to make its GOP structure, headers, etc compliant with VCD format. Bring your CD to your friend and try to play it with his/her computer and see if it works ok for him/her.

I had the same problem, Have you tried those Cd´s in diferent stand alone DVD´s?
That used to happend to me with diferent situations:
1. when using bad media (blue face works better for me than the pale green or gold) try black face or darker blue ones.
2. Burning on slower PC´s (less than 700 Mhz) at higher speeds. (Try 4x for instance)
3. On some brands of DVD stand alone players, maybe dusty laser (clean it) or not so high quality (try different brand).

Thankx for all the info and advice guys!

Seem to have solved my problems by using VCDEasy to burn the mpg files ... ??? Backup VCD's are looking Spot-on now without any glitches ... well so far anyway. Wonder what the gremlin(s) were with using the other burning software(s) ... ???
