I have a Matshita SR 8585 Dvd/rom drive that seems to work on some DVD's but not others

So far it has played and installed Everquest 2 DVD version just fine, but it will not play Spiderman 2 or 1 for that matter, i cant even double click on the drive icon without getting an error msg saying windows is not compatiable yet ive been unable to find any new drivers for this..

I have been able to play some DVD's why not all???

Sounds like a dodgy ROM - why mess around - for less than $30 you can get a new one.
