I am new to modding and i have been offered £145 for someone to softmodd my xbox and fit a 200Gb hard drive with evox and all that stuff on it.

Is this really worth it or i am being riped off?

The price was £160 but I i got it down to £145.

Thanks

In all, it cost me $50 to softmod my xbox. It's worth it to me because I can always restore my xbox to it's original state with Itools and I can always re-install it.

If it comes with the 200G hard drive, yes. If not, your getting ripped off.

Yeah. 200 gb and the xbox for $140 is a good deal. I just hope it's for real and not a scam.

I wouldn't personally pay for either since I know how to softmod (it's a rather simple process) and I know how to install new hdd.

But your getting a good deal. I mean 200 Gb by itself would be $200. That's like the best deal I've seen on a premodded xbox.

I'd like to point out for someone that mentioned. £140 is different from $140.

Someone said that $140 is a good deal, maybe he does mean that £140 is a good deal but dosen't have the pound sign on an american keyboard. Just pointing out.

Well isn't the Euro slightly worth more than the american dollar?

150.00 EUR would equal 204.163 USD

But you said yours cost 140 Pounds, not Euro.

150 USD would equal 289.11 GBP

USD United State Dollars ($)
GBP Great Britain Pount (£)
EUR Euro (?)

This is probably blown way out of proportion, but it is just because i am from Britain, now living in America, and i'm very observant when seeing all the currency signs when buying stuff online. Big difference after you convert.

Dude, just do it yourself, like Quadratic said. I softmod xboxes all the time, upgrade the harddrives all the time, it's a bit tedious sometimes but definitely not more complicated than installing an actual chip. To tell you the truth, you can softmod your xbox for basically free, just take back the game and Action Replay software when you're done.

Dude, if your going to open up the system anyway to put in a new HD, go ahead and spend the $35 and get an Xecuter chip and throw it in there. It is very very simple to install and then you would have the on/off switch to turn off the mod when you dont want it..

I think that soft modding is a complete waste of time, too much swapping disks around and stuff, your better just getting a chip installed mate like the xecuter 2.6 or xecuter 3 because they direct boot and its worth more to you,

as for the hard drive, its a good investment if you play games a lot but if you buy like 1 game a month then i wouldnt bother,

cheers,if you need any backups or anything then let me know i charge £4 per disk and i have over 800 xbox games,400 ps2 games, lots of software/pc games/music/etc all for backups use only post back if interested ;-)

Yeah i stay in in britain.
Do you think a computer shop would know how to softmodd it?

see if i buy a 200 gig hard drive from PC world or somewhere, is it hard to put on evox and all that onto it? Would "Slayer's Auto Installer V2.6 Disk" do and is it hard to do?

Fraser - Please don't spend any money on any discs for applications like Evox, that is readily available in a lot of places, especially "the usual places". Anyway, check out this site, it will give you a foolproof and simple guide to modding your xbox

What in the world are you talking about??? There is no disc swapping involved at all in a softmod. A softmod does every single thing a chipmod does, only without a chip. Direct boot? What the heck are you talking about? Softmods direct boot anything you put in the tray! You should get your facts straight before you go trying to help someone...

What??? Why would he want to turn his mod off? Unless he wanted to play XBL, in which case, all he has to do is boot the disc directly without accessing his dashboard and he will be able to play XBL just fine...i have a softmodded xbox and an xbox live account i've been playing for 10 months now and I have had no problems...

PS - Fuzzy, no you would not be able to use Slayer's 2.6 on a softmodded xbox...you could get the apps included in his installer though...

I personally have had 3 chipped xboxes. Not sure about the pros and cons of softmodding but my chips work great.

I use aladdin chips as they are quite cheap, and easily disabled without the use of an extra switch (unlike other chips).

I've always put 200GB Hdd in my xboxes but dont get 1 from PC world it'll cost a fortune. www.ebuyer.co.uk is just about the best place to get. Go for Seagate as they are a lot quieter than Maxtor. You'll need to mod the bios for LBA48 support to utilise the full 200Gb though. While your at it though you can change start up options, animations, colours (on screen and eject button) etc.

With the chip slayers 2.6 works a treat. Just boot up the disc and format the drive, voila, all apps and stuff are automatically installed (only a couple of choices to make). Guides for doing all this can be found either here or www.xbox-scene.com

I could do it for you reasonably cheap (about as much as your softmod, depending on xbox version) and will come with a guarantee (I dont chip it myself, just install the HDD. But chip is proffessionally fitted by an authorised dealer for sony)

AMD 64 X2 3800+

Seagate 300 Gb SATA
Pioneer DVDR 110D
Peaktime GeForce 6600LE
Thermaltake Tsunami Dream
Thermaltake Pure Power 480 W
Thermaltake Golden Orb
