I have a v7 with a new Matrix infinity. I burned the firmware disk and when I boot it says - ps2 disk - in browser but wont do anything when I hit the X button. There's a piercing noise in the background on the tv and the screen looks mostly black and white. Now If I put in a dvd real game, I get - DVD Player not setup - Any help would be most appreciated. (BTW no matrix screen or logo pops up at any time - chip purchased at xmodds)

Did you install the chip yourself? If so then you can check to see if there are any brigdes between points or if any wires have come off the board.

To boot a infinity firware disk:

1.Put disk in drive and then put ps2 on standby
2.Hold the power button on the ps2 until you see the blue eject light come on
3. The disk should know boot
4. Follow on-screen inscrutions to update firmware

All i can really tell you is to re-check all your connections to make sure they are all alined properly and that no wires are pinched or damaged. Also you can try burning the firmware to a new cd. What type of cd are you using? Its possible that the media isn't recognized by your ps2.

I burned it on a maxwell cdr 80 min 16x but burned it at 4x. I pulled the chip out and all works fine. The config window now shows a dvd player v2.10. Only thing i can figure is that its a bad chip. i bought 2 chips but am leary of going through the trouble of modding it again.

You have to install it to flash it. It'll read the disc.
