Ritek G04's with Swap Disc

I just bought a set of Ritek G04s as they are highly acclaimed to be one of the best. I burn my backup of Star Ocean 3, onto it, and then follow the usual swap magic disk procedure with the swipe card. And then it states

'Not a valid PS2 disk'

I burn the 'exact' same Iso with Verbatim data life, and it works fine. I'm using the LiteOn DVDRW SOHW-1633S and wondering if there are any compatibility issues, or whether the G04 disks actually work on a PS2???

g04 discs do work, i used them to burn star ocean on. But a lot of people have trouble with that game, so id try burning a differnt game onto the ritek before you rule them out.
