Size limit on backup DVD

I was just wondering if anyone knows what the maximum disk size can be for a backup disk? I saw a web page at one time that stated it, but of course i didn't bookmark it and i can't find it again. Thanks guys.

A standard dvd backup contains 4.38 gb of space. Don't even pay attention to the 4.7 bulls*** on the labels of dvd-r, because that's not accurate.

HOWEVER, there are dual layer burners and dvd's that contain 8.5 gb of space. I think dual layer burners can twice the capacity of a regular disc
