drdivx and menu problem on dvd to avi

i have used drdivx to convert one of my original dvd films to avi/divx , it seemed to do the job fine making an 800 + file , however the problem is the original dvd film menu is there also and seems to be un useable so i can not actually play the file , should i somehow remove the dvd menu before conversion and if so how would i do this ?
