New to this forum so please bear with me.
I have a v9 ps2, with a flip top lid.
Whenever I turn on my playstation, the cd tray opens, and if you try to close it, or reset, the tray goes back in and pops out again.
Can anyone help please?
Thanks

is there something blocking it keeping it from going 100% closed?
If there is something in the way (even sometihng very small) it will not stay closed. It will pop right back out

dont think there is anything blocking it as it goes in all the way, although only for a second and ejects out again.
when you turn the playstation only, the blue eject button always flashes to eject it.
any ideas?
any help greatly appreciated!

could be a ribbon cable problem, when you replaced the case maybe the cable wasn't put back in securely. Did you start to have this problem ever since you replaced the lid with a flip top, or did it happen recently?

no i had the problem before i changed the top. thought it would no longer be a problem since i would never need to eject again.
has been getting worse and wors but now does not stay closed at all.
is there anywhere in the uk where you can get them fixed?

Sorry, I don't live in the UK so i'm not familiar with the stores there, but if you figure out whats wrong with it and need replacement parts, you might wanna check this out: http://www.divineo.co.uk I have no experience with that website but i've seen good reviews for it.. maybe someone can share their experiences with Divineo?

Did you install anything inside the PS2, or just the lid? You probably damaged the cable if you didn't install anything else...

Yeah that's what i thought, but he had the problem even before he replaced the top. he replaced the top so he wouldn't have to eject anymore.

If I were you I would take apart the CD/DVD Drive and see if there is anything that could be causing a problem with keeping it closed. when you take off the top of the ps2 case, there should be four screws on the corners of the black box that holds the cd/dvd drive. if you want to take anything else apart just remember where everything goes back.

cheers for your help, will open it up and let you know.
i ended up buying a second hand playstation as i was sick of it now working, but if i can fix my old one, i will sell it on.
in regards to the eject problem, when i open the cd drive up, it will be difficult to see if there is anything from. do you have any suggestions about what i should expect to find?
thanks for all your help....
