Is it possible to boot a backup DVD using the memory card exploit (without using the Swap Magic disks)?

yes, you would need an original ps2 game thats bigger than the backup your trying to load.

How would you go about doing it? The only way I know how to do it is to fire up the exploit, load the CD Loader, and then use the Swap Magic DVD.
Could it be possible to put the Swap Magic DVD on the memory card like the CD Loader or CogSwap? The Swap Magic DVD is only about 5mb if you take out the dummy files (dummy100.bin and rom_00.bin).

I have been searching for answers to this question lately also. If its explained in detail in a previous thread (which i did take the time to search for, but did not have any luck in finding) please be so kind as to link me to it... however, if you would not mind i would much appreciate some sort of step by step on how i could use a mem card exploit to boot a DVD backup _without_ the original swap magic disk.
Thanks

Thanks. That worked very well.
I suppose I could give a step-by-step instruction on how to boot a backup DVD without the Swap Magic disks just so that it's clear to everyone.
1. Load up memory card exploit with PS1 original.
2. Load CD Loader off memory card.
3. When CD Loader says to insert disk press the eject button and place a original PS2 game (like GTA Vice City) in the tray and press X.
4. Swap the Original PS2 game with the backup.
Also, is there any way of booting a PS1 disc with the memory card exploit? I have a copy of the NES emulator It Might Be NES and I can't get it to work.:(

no, you can't boot ps1 discs. Also, MAKE SURE the original game you use is bigger than the backup your trying to load. Like you said, gta it one of the biggest.

i did some searching, for a TOC list to see which games work the best.. however, is there any way to reset the TOC using any sort of program so that finding a large ps2 disk isnt necisary?
