I've had this problem with 2 dvds today, all other dvd are ripped fine.
I've ripped hundreds of dvd's, and this is the fist time I've had this problem.
its almost like They've found a way to put read errors on these disks, making specific sectors on the disc unreadable.
the first dvd Resident Evil Apocalypse, the error is on VTS 02_1 and VTS 05_1, 2nd dvd error is on VTS 01_3
any have a suggestions or even know anything about this?

I gather that your using DVD Decrypter and you get 50 read errors and you get an error message. In my experience its one of two things - dirty or scratched DVD - check the disc surface if dirty wash with detergent and soft cloth or its the drive. I have 2 dvd drives, a Richoh mp5125 and a NEC2500 the Ricoh reads faster but is prone to errors (usually on the layer change) - generally if i then put the disc in the NEC it rips ok.

Hope that helps.

I only use DVD Decrypter, those dvd's were perfect, brand new, fresh out of the case. No scratchs. brand spanking new. and it wouldnt rip. 50 read errors in the exact same place everytime. I tried it on 2 different drives. Same errors

Here are some key changes to make to your Decrypter setup, I use these and haven't had any problems yet, even with these "read error" discs, whic is in fact a new attempt by the movie industry to curtail copying and backing up.

1. On the General Tab: Set "Check for Structure Protection" to aggressive and enable it.

2. In the File, IFO, and ISO Read mode tabs, check everything that removes RCE, VOB, PUO, and IFO protections.

3. Under the CSS tab, the default setting is "I/O Key Exchange ~~> Brute Force. Change this so that Brute Force is the first option, thus reading "Brute Force ~~> I/O Key Exchange".

4.Under the I/O tab ( this may be the biggie) make sure you have the boxed checked for "Ignore Read Errors".

Try changing these and then trying to rip the disc and see what you get. Scuba Pete had a VERY good thread that dealt specifically with the Decrypter settings, but I couldn't find. Tried to remember as much as I could.

lexacid - RE2 can be riped to hard drive using vobblanker, then dvdshrink to decrease the size, then your burning program of preference. You can get vobblanker for free here:

Get VobBlanker from: www.posunplugged.com/jsoto and click on VobBlanker.exe

Here is a nice guide to using it:

http://www.users.totalise.co.uk/~yyyyyy/vob_blanker/vob_blanker.html

If you still want to use dvddecryptor for RE2 you will have import the new PSL file which can be found here: http://forum.dvddecrypter.com/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=749

Pop the DVD in your drive and open up DVD Decrypter.

Now on DVD Decrypter, click "File" and go to "Protected Sectors List". It will pop over with "Import" and "Export". Click on Import and an explorer box will open. You have to find where you downloaded the PSL file. It will probably be in My Document or on the desktop. Once it is found, click the 'open' button.

See here for further reference: http://forum.dvddecrypter.com/index.php?showtopic=14891&st=0

Just curious what the second title you couldn't do was. It wsn't "Little Black Book" was it?
