Best way to get avi files to play in a DVD player

I have some movies that are about 1gig each and are .avi. Can I use nero to get them to play in my dvd player. Will that program convert them or add the menus it needs to play the file?

Can I put two, 1 gig files on one dvd and can they play on a dvd player?

I know how to copy dvd's using dvdshrink and nero and it works great, but I'd love to get avi's to work.

Sorry, I found WinAvi Video converter.

My question is, can you put two movies on one dvd disc?
