Howdy All,
Any idea on Slim Modchips? As far as I can tell, it looks like the Matrix Infinity is the only chip out there at the moment.
If so, has anyone used/modded the new Slim yet?
Also, if anyone knows of anywhere to pick them up local to Kingston/Belleville/Trenton, Ontario, would be a big help.
Thanks
Cheers

The Magic V 5kX Doesnt harm the PS2 Slim.
www.modchip.ca have this chip the cheapest yet. Best of yet if yor order it from them comes with alot of stuff very handy. You need pretty much that Chip + Kit it comes with plus a 15w Iron and your good to go. Dont be fooled by fakes buy from official Magic 5 5kx Resellers.
Price: $39.95
Not bad for what you get. This is the 100% Awnser for PS2 Slim Owners. This is a Pal/NTSC chip aswell no matter where your from. The chip also works 100% with ethernet.

Roger that.
Thanks.
As for the install, we have some amazing high-reliability soldering tech guys here at the Air Base that do them for $30 - $50 CAD. Cause the reason we have a new Slim model is because I tried my hand at fixing the v7 we had before.....LOL.

Lol, Yeah I had an old Style *brick* ps2 aswell But i sold it for some reason.....Money probly and when the new slims came out I fell in love. Prob the only thing I can find wrong with them, well three things.
1) USB1.1 (WTF SONY)
2) Flip top lid (I can see me replacing a few of them)
3) No Official HDD Support (Lets hope 3rd party does a decent job)
Other than that its a Great lil Beast, Makes XBOX Look like an 18wheeler Truck.

I have a slim with the Matrix Infinity and it is 100% fine, works with all my PS1 games and all newer CD and DVD-R back ups. I keep a fan on it though due to paranoia from all of the burned out lasers I read about.

i got a messiah 3.7 and is 100% compatible with slimline - thats my advice. also MRDYLAN, the fan u installed wont help the laser, it will only cool the motherboard and chip from overheating. if you want to fix the lazer get the laserfix. its a small cheap chip solution that will regulate the power going to the laser so it doesnt fry.

Carefull when taking apart the Slim, As far as most people say its fairly easy well Trust me to stuff it up. I opened it poked around inside and put it back together. And the power button was stuck. So i took it apart and power button was just not working it was stuck and looks like some part had broken off. So be cafefull. And sadly the IR is on the same PCB as the Button and Lights, So it s prob going to be a Expensive part to order if you do. Good luck and tell us how you went.

@ ducatis
I do have the the fix chip as well but the guy who installed it said having a fan (just a regular little house fan pointed at the front) on it as well is just an added precaution the fix chip is also not 100% I am hearing but so far I have had no trouble

Regarding the Magic KX SLIM...will this work on Japan spec playstation slim?
Will I still be able to play US spec ps-1/2 games?
Does the chip render the PS2 slim a region free DVD player?
I'm in Tokyo, thinking of buying the GT-4 package here and taking it back to the US.
