Ritek is slowly slipping from great to ok quality and I just finished my last spindle so what's the next best media to get? I have looked at digitalfaq.com and the site doen't seem to be updated.

There are a lot of good media out there, but you have to choose what waorks best for you.
I use TDK, Sony, Verbatim and Imation.
Now that's my coice as these all work well with my burner.
There are probably better ones around, but these are what I choose to use..

bout right.Taiyo Yuden are about the only ones that are consistant at the moment.Theres alot of fakes out there quoting a ty dye....make sure they are genuine and not under a brand name such as mirror or datawrite(yuk).Verbatim seem ok for some people but not me.The only ritek based disc that ive used and is ok is ANV (orange label) but for how long i dont know. The rest suck. But thats just from my experiance.

I have an NEC 3500 and I love the new TDK media made in Taiwan: TTG02. When bestbuy puts is on sale, its pretty hard to beat. TY is great too, and as the prices go down, theres really no reason to buy anything other than that. Though after about 50 burns of each, theres no decernable differenvce between the two. For me at least.

I think I am going to get TY's. The price is about the same as Ritek's now, though I might try TDK if there is a good deal. Thanks for all your help.

Unless you're making money off the DVDs you burn from these disks or you're burning stuff you personally made and therefore have some emotional connection to the content you're going to be burning, there is really no way to justify spending $1 per DVD. The two qualifications a disk has to meet before it can be called 'reliable' media is that it burns flawlessly and that it still plays flawlessly a year later. If a .48 cent Taiyo Yuden does that, and it does, theres no reason to spend $1 per disk on other meida.
