Invalid DVD Nagivation Structure

I have a stand-alone DVD recorder which I record TV programs with. The problem is that the DVD's that this machine creates do not have a compliant menu structure and DVD Shrink gives the "Invalid DVD Nagivation Structure" error when trying to read it.

What's the easiest way to be able to open the DVD on my PC and copy the bits that I want? Is there any free DVD editing software that I can use?
