Putting English Subtitles On A Chinese DVD Without English Subtitles

I borrowed House of Flying Daggers of a chinese friend of mine. I backed it up and it said that it had english subtitles on it, but it doesnt.

I tried using Subrip but that is just about impossible for me, because I can't read chinese.

Anyone have any suggestions on the easiest way to fix this?
