Hi all,

In the past few months every time I capture VHS tape (firewire) into final cut my audio at the tail is out of sync. Anyone know why this happens or can slove the problem. I saw a box at the DV conventions to slove the problem but would rather stick to my own equipment.

Thanks,
Maraya

One thing that would help is telling us what software you are using to burn the DVD.

I not quite sure why the DVD software is needed but here is goes. I use DVD studio pro but before that I export it as a mpeg 2 file. Then I can usually go direct to DVD studio pro burning the DVD or save the Video TS files and dump it into roxio as a UDF Data.

I hope that helps...

I have the same problem using NEODVDstandard? Any help. Audio lags behind the video?

I've had the same problem. I was using AMCAP and changed the master stream from the default (audio) to video. I think it fixed it (retested about 3min of video) but I haven't retried capturing long (30min-60min) tape yet. I guess see what options you have and what they're set to.

Thanks for all your inputs...yes, I've tried all my peferences but it tends to get out of sync when I load half an hour worth of video, however, the tail of the video gets out of sync. I'll try a composite input rather then firewire see that works too...

Dano;

I had this problem when using NeoDVD in the "Best" capture mode, but when going to the "Better" capture mode, the sync is always perfect. There is nothing fancy about the computer I use, it is only a 1 ghz P3 (true Pentium lll though) with both a 5400 rpm and 7200 rpm drive. Of course the 7200 rpm drive would give you better capture results, but even with the 5400 rpm drive if I capture in the "better" mode the quality is fine. My audio board is an older Videum PCI board and my capture device is the ATI TV Wonder Pro. I run 512 meg ram in WinMe. So, I would think with a P4 2 gig system and over you should be able to actually use the "best" mode. The longer the video of course the audio lag is more persistent toward the end. I can run the "Best" mode in NeoDVD if I only have a capture of 1/2 or less with sync ok. I have done many, many long 2 hour captures of VHS and TV channel station captures with NeoDVD and although not the best software by any means it does a fairly decent job with fast results and one of the easiest interfaces I have even seen. Make sure you don't have other garbage TSR resident programs running in the background. Just hit ctrl-alt-del and eliminate all programs with the exception of eplorer and systray before running the NeoDVD software. Believe it or not I have actually run this NeoDVD in a much slower 256 m ram system at only 850 processor speed in NeoDVD selecting "Better" mode with only a 5400 rpm older drive and still had excellent results.
