Hi, since I got my dvd burner for xmas I have been having problems burning video_ts files.

it started when i tried to copy snl best of chris farley, i downloaded dvdshrink and had it as video_ts files on my pc. Then i tried burning, failed before dvd became a coaster, so I went on a search found a program called dvd-decrypter and reripped the files to iso. Burnt the iso and worked perfectly.

Then i downloaded a dvd from bit torrent, its in video_ts and I was wondering what can I do to make this an iso? is there a program i can use to make it an iso?

Also, I am using Nero to try and burn this video_ts but it always fails, the dvd drive will open and close throughout the process and finish saying dvd burning failed : drive opened...

please help,
Can i take video_ts files and create an iso out of it?

Get some rewritables first to practice. If you select 'DVD-Video' from Nero, and just drag the files over into the VIDEO_TS folder on the left that Nero creates for you, you should have no problem burning a readable DVD because Nero will make sure it is DVD-compliant before it burns. This will save you the trouble of converting to ISO first (which is just an image file like Nero's .NRG) There is nothing special or different about the ISO which makes it more readable.

i just tried doing what you said and it failed saying the drive opened...

the drive opens like its stuttering on reading the blank dvd, but the thing is, when i burnt the chris farley dvd i had the dvd and made an iso from dvd-decrypter then burned in dvd-decryptor no problem.

but for some reason Nero is fooking up.
