Easy DVD to Xvid method - what do you think?

I've seen teh quality that some people can get taking a full length DVD movie and crushing it down to 700mb so I thought about giving it a try.

here's my plan mabybe someone can let me know what they think about it.

1. Rip the DVD to decrypted VOB file (one VOB not split to 1gb chunks) in DVDShrink

2. Load VOB into VirtualDub 1.5.10 MPEG2

3. Add deinterlace filter, set XViD compression and MP3 compression along with audio conversion to 44.1k 16bit. Also set cropping so no letter box.

4. Save as .AVI file

How does this sound? I plan on trying it out tomorrow but wanted to find out what you guys thought first.

Hi,

Seems to work fine. I'll have to test the resulting XViD in my Yamada 6600 but looking good at the moment.

I'll go check and let you know.
