i ordered a 50-pk of avb dvd+r 8x from newegg and was wondering if avb is any good.
i read a review on it on newegg and some guy said it was top quality (that taiyo ru-whatever), but i think he was exaggerating.

i wouldn't recommend them and probably wouldn't waste time trying to burn movies on them
data would be ok if you wanted to keep them, but in the future i would invest in high quality discs for video backups

Never heard of avb, see if they have the media ID listed on the product's page. I bought my burner from them, and they included 5 free 'newegg' branded blank dvd's, which turned out to be ritek g04's, which are pretty decent. Not that that guarantees the quality of what you're getting, but I have had good experiences with newegg, as have alot of people I've talked too, so hopefully what you're getting is good.

Ya, you lucked out, though there are plenty of brands that put a fake media id on their disks, or they package different manufacturers disks under their brand name, so I say in the future buy TY disks that haven't been rebranded. You can get 50 packs of TY brand disks from meritline.com for 24.50, 47.50 for 100, which is even a little better than the disks you got. They're the silver face ones.
