I have the matrix infinity for my ps2 v5. I am trying to solder it on but none of the connections stick. I coat the wire with solder heat it and place it on the area i want it to go but it does not seem to work. the wire either comes off with the slightest touch or i have to put so much it bridges to another connection... so is there any tips you could give me? I praticed alot and i have all the supplies that the seller and the modchip's page said to get... is soldering chips fucking bullshit?

Try solder rosin, it might help your connections. DOn't use too much, it's corrosive to the mainboard. It's not easy, if you've never done any soldering before, a PS2 mod chip might not be the best place to start...

chill bro, i have modded plenty of xboxs. but i tell you the freaking ps2 is a bitch. i had plenty of problems, i even shorted a ps2. you might want to look into a memory card exploit. it's much better trust me, loading and coping games to the a hard drive better than burning copies on your pc. plus you still have to deal the load time with burnt copies. if you need info on the memory card exploit let me know.

here what you would need.

hard drive (maxtor is prefered staples always has
deals on this)- $60+

ps2 network - $40/$45
memory card - $25
ps1 game - free hopefully
pc & cd burner
a friend who can provide the right files - me

in essence it only cost about $100. well worth it though. think about it store 20+ game on a hard drive choose from list of games instead of swapping copies.

@ bobkknd

You need to watch the language and have some respect for other members trying to help you.

the best way is tell the seller to fix the chip for you. I had a bad experience myself try to put a modchip at my owns. It didnt work and i get frustrated.

Listen, You need Rosin Flux if you have soldered before you should know that. Just put some one the wire and It will stick super fast, I just tap it and it sticks.

ALSO In order to be a PRO MODDER you can't be a playa Hater. A PS2 is made of the same things that a XBOX is made out of. Their only difference is the way those parts work. THEY ARE ALL MADE OF SILICON JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER ELECTRONIC OUT THERE!!!!

I am not talking about how they work. I am saying that the circuits that are in a ps2 are about as big as ones are in an Xbox.

i have a ver 4 ps2 and the solder points for the dms3 are too dang close. i need a 3x lens to make sure i don't solder the wrong points. i can solder a xbox even if i had 30/30 vision. i'm pretty sure that the later versions of ps2 has more spaced out prongs to solder to.

You don't need a magnifign glass all you need to do is put a little bit of solder on the wire, then compare the pint to make sure they are the same size then add some flux to the wire and place it on he point then just add heat to the wire for abut a second then its done.
