The controller port ribbon must have been disconnected. Just simply take apart your ps2 a little more to find where to reconnect it. It is pretty simple.

In the slot where you reconnect the controller port ribbon there is a flap you can pull up to slide the ribbon cable back in. Be sure to look for this.

is this the plastic clip that you are reffering to?
if thats what you're talking about then i'm not sure, is it just the top flap that holds the ribbon cable securely in place? maybe to keep the ribbon cable in place you can just tape it securely. maybe you can just clip that flap back on, unless a piece of the plastic broke off. if all else fails then you would have to buy a new controller port(around 25-30 bucks)

Well im sure bryanrotg has just inspired alot of hope in devilmode. If in doubt take it to a PS2 Repair Shop mate rather than risking further damage.

yea i think he's talking about the one i pointed to. if its the one attatched to the controller port, try to clip it back on, but if that doesn't work i think you have to buy a new controller port altogether.

I was talking about the clip that holds the ribbon in its place on the controller port. But I think the problem was that the ribbon itself is damaged. Some of the metal strips at the end of the ribbon are scratched off and damaged.
Does it need all the strips or does it just need to make a connection?
